If you need some help choosing the right board, watch our short video tutorial: "How to choose between a SUP hard board and an inflatable board?" English subtitles should appear automatically.
Or you can take a look at this article by TOTALSUP which explains how to choose your first SUP.
Don't hesitate to get in touch with us if you need some advice regarding which board would be best for you, that's what we're here for ;)
The different criteria to consider:
1. your physical build / height & weight
2. your SUP discipline (surf, flat water, sea, lake, river, race, fishing)
3. your SUP aspirations (leisure, fitness, progression…)
4. your SUP level (beginner / intermediate / advanced)
Taking all of these factors into account one or more boards could suit you.
Here's a nice article by TotalSUP that explains how to choose your first SUP surfboard:
As a general rule, a longer board will have more glide moving forward, a wider board will be more stable (the width combined with the overall shape and length of the board) and a shorter board will be more reactive and easier to turn.
Inflatable boards have become a huge part of the SUP market and it’s the same here at Redwoodpaddle. This year we’ve extended our range of air SUPs, as always combining high quality construction with prices that are in our opinion the best in the market.
All our inflable SUPs are made using the latest double layer PVC fusion technology. Each layer of PVC is thermally fused together creating superior rigidity, lightness and durability. And the dropstitch we use for our boards is the highest quality dropstitch currently available.
The new RWP Starter air SUP range: with the evergrowing demand for inflatable SUPs we decided to make a more affordable range of boards available in 3 different sizes: 8'6 / 9'6 / 10'7. Also available as a SUP Family Pack.
In our Funbox range you can find an inflatable SUP for all the SUP disciplines: SUP surfing, touring, fishing, fitness, racing, yoga...
The Funbox 9'2 is the smallest board in this range, easy to catch waves on, ideal for river SUP as well, very stable.
The Funbox 9'6 is the ideal iSUP for learning to surf and river descents.
The Funbox 10' is the most versatile and best selling board in this range; surf, river, fitness, yoga; it’s all possible with this board.
The Funbox 10'6 WindSUP with it's integrated mast head gives you the option of using this board for both SUP and windsurfing.
The Funbox 11'6 Tourer has more glide than the 10’ model, it’s also faster over flat water, so it’s the ideal SUP for longer distance touring and it’s stable enough to carry a child on board.
